KARACHI:

The Syndicate of Karachi University unanimously approved measures to reclaim its encroached land and prevent future land grabbing.

The decisions were made in a special session chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi on Monday. The Syndicate agreed to immediately contact all relevant authorities to ensure the land is vacated and secured. It was also decided that an experienced legal firm would be hired to assist in the recovery process, while security guards would be deployed to patrol the university's land. A five-member committee, including former VC Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser, former Karachi Commissioner Dr Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Prof Dr Saleha Rehman, Finance Director Syed Jehanzeb, and Legal Director Asif Mukhtar, has been formed to coordinate with the legal firm.

The Vice Chancellor said this was the first meeting of its kind in KU's history.
