Shortfall: Electricity deficit jumps to 3,558MW

ISLAMABAD: The electricity shortfall in the country on Tuesday jumped to 3,558 megawatts (MW), as the total power generation was recorded at 13,044MW against the demand of 16,602MW during the last 24 hours. According to report on daily power generation and load-management position, the hydel generation stood at 6,641MW, WAPDA thermal 1,187MW, IPPs 5,063MW and rental 153MW. As many as 700MW were supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report said. The hydel generation witnessed a sharp increase and stood at 6,641MW, owing to the maximum water conservation level attained by Tarbela and Mangla dams and increased water discharge from both the reservoirs.
