Rugg described her behavior online as “completely unhinged.”

The situation grew more complicated when internet users misidentified the woman as Cheryl Richardson-Wagner, a Boston Red Sox fan. Richardson-Wagner took to Facebook on Saturday to clear her name, writing: “Ok everyone. I’m NOT the crazy Philly Mom (but I sure would love to be as thin as she is and move as fast)… and I’m a Red Sox fan.”

The viral moment began when “Phillies Karen” confronted a father seated nearby after his 10-year-old son retrieved a ball that had landed close to her. The woman argued the man had pulled the ball away from her after crossing multiple rows of seats, while she insisted it was within her reach.
