A planned livestream between Atlanta rapper Young Thug and streamer Adin Ross was abruptly canceled on September 7, just hours after Young Thug issued a public apology to his girlfriend, singer Mariah The Scientist. The two artists have been publicly linked since October 2021, and the announcement followed leaked jailhouse calls in which the rapper admitted to past infidelity.

Ross addressed the cancellation directly during a stream, telling viewers that the decision was entirely Young Thug’s. “I’m sorry chat. It’s not in my control. Young Thug wanna do it at a better time,” Ross explained. He emphasized that the move was not tied to money or publicity, adding: “He a real one tho, he didn’t wanna do it for $.”
Ross suggested that Young Thug’s decision stemmed from a desire to manage his own narrative and avoid fueling an already turbulent news cycle. Instead of turning the controversy into content, the rapper appeared focused on preserving privacy and repairing his relationship with Mariah.
Young Thug’s reluctance to engage publicly contrasted with the current trend of artists using livestreams to address controversies directly. Ross reassured his audience that the collaboration was not canceled permanently, noting, “It’ll happen another time.”
The cancellation came in the wake of Thug’s apology posted to social media, where he acknowledged wrongdoing, asked fans to leave Mariah out of the controversy, and described her as “innocent.”
Ross closed his remarks by supporting Thug’s stance: “He not tryna talk about this shit anymore and move on.” The approach highlighted what appeared to be a deliberate choice by Young Thug to step back from monetizing his personal turmoil and instead concentrate on his personal life.
