The 1,500th birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was celebrated across the metropolitan city, on Saturday with devotion, reverence, and religious fervour.
The day began with collective prayers, recitation of Drood upon the Prophet (PBUH), and continued with processions, Milad gatherings, and Seerat-un-Nabi conferences held in various parts of the city.
The central procession, organised by Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat, started from Memon Masjid in Bolton Market and concluded at Nishtar Park. It was led by Jamaat chief Allama Shah Abdul Haq Qadri along with other religious scholars. Participants carrying green flags and reciting naats were welcomed at reception camps and refreshment stalls arranged by religious and political organisations along MA Jinnah Road. Processions were also taken out in Liaquatabad, Gulbahar, Korangi, and New Karachi. Strict security arrangements were in place, with several routes sealed with containers.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, accompanied by cabinet members and Mayor Murtaza Wahab, joined the central procession at Memon Masjid. Speaking to the media, the CM highlighted the Prophet's (PBUH) message of peace, harmony, and brotherhood, terming it a guiding light for humanity. He congratulated Muslims around the world on the auspicious occasion and prayed for Pakistan's peace, progress, and stability.
Governor Kamran Khan Tessori also attended the central procession, reviewed the arrangements, and appreciated the efforts of police and Rangers for ensuring foolproof security. Extending Eid Milad-un-Nabi greetings to the nation, he said Pakistanis had demonstrated their deep love for the Prophet (PBUH) through processions, illuminations, and distribution of food and drinks. He prayed for relief for flood-affected families and appealed to philanthropists to step forward and support them.
Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal visited MQM-P's reception camp on MA Jinnah Road, where he personally served water and refreshments to participants. He said that following the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was the true path to serving humanity and achieving success in this world and the Hereafter.
