A suspected robber was injured and arrested following a police encounter in Manawan area on Sunday. The incident took place near Sialkot Motorway, where a police team had set up a checkpoint.
Officers signaled two men on a motorcycle to stop after deeming them suspicious. Instead, the suspects opened fire on police and attempted to flee. Police pursued the attackers while taking cover.
During the exchange of fire, one suspect was hit by bullets fired by his accomplice, the officials said. The injured man, identified as Owais, was arrested from the scene.
According to SP Qazi Ali Raza, the arrested suspect was wanted in at least 10 cases of theft, snatching and drug peddling.
