RAWALPINDI:

Armed robbers looted over Rs600,000 in cash and a mobile phone during a robbery at a petrol pump on Girja Road in the jurisdiction of Dhamial Police Station. The suspects assaulted staff members before fleeing the scene, while CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced.

According to reports, two motorcycle-riding suspects posed as policemen and entered the manager's office, accusing the staff of selling substandard fuel. Taking advantage of the situation, they attacked the staff, violently beating a filling boy and holding him at gunpoint. The suspects then forced the cashier to open the drawer and snatched more than Rs600,000 along with a mobile phone. Footage also shows them locking the cashier and filling boy inside a room before escaping.

Petrol pump manager Waheedullah said he was away inspecting other sites when the incident took place. He alleged that when the staff reported the robbery to the local police, the duty officer behaved irresponsibly and insisted that the owner or manager be brought within 10 minutes instead of immediately registering the complaint.

Only after a call was made to the emergency helpline (15) did senior officers intervene and assure legal action. A formal complaint has since been filed.

Dhamaial Police Station SHO, Israr Ahmed, confirmed that he visited the crime scene and that an investigation has been launched.
