A 5.9-magnitude earthquake shook Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday night, according to the seismic monitoring centre.
The quake originated at 9:56pm at a depth of 111 kilometres with its epicentre in the Hindu Kush region.
Tremors were felt in Mansehra, Hangu, Abbottabad, Swat, Attock, Malakand, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the seismic monitoring centre said.
State broadcaster PTV News said on X the tremors "lasted for several seconds" and caused citizens to come out of their homes.
A statement from the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority said it received initial reports of an earthquake from "all districts" of the province.
No immediate reports of casualties or damage were received.
On Tuesday, tremors were felt in Peshawar, Mansehra and Islamabad after another earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan.
A PMD statement noted that the 5.4-magnitude quake had occurred at 5:30pm in southeastern Afghanistan at a depth of 22km with tremors felt all the way in Peshawar, Mansehra, Islamabad, Abbottabad and Swat.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan at the weekend rose sharply to more than 2,200 on Thursday, according to a new toll, making it the deadliest in decades to hit the neighbouring country.
The vast majority of those killed in the magnitude-6.0 earthquake that jolted the mountainous region late Sunday were in Kunar province, where 2,205 people died and 3,640 were injured, according to a Taliban government toll.
Another 12 people were killed and hundreds injured in the neighbouring provinces of Nangarhar and Laghman.
The toll had been expected to rise as volunteers and rescuers were still pulling bodies from the rubble.
