KARACHI:

The Karachi traffic police have finalised traffic arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) processions scheduled for Saturday.

Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) will personally supervise the movement and security of processions in their respective districts, stated the Karachi Traffic Police spokesperson.

To ensure smooth traffic flow across the city, a detailed diversion and alternative route plan has been chalked out. The citizens have been urged to use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.

Two major processions will depart from Memon Masjid in the afternoon. The first procession will set off at 2:30 pm and conclude at Aram Bagh Masjid. The second procession will begin at 3pm and end at Nishtar Park.

Traffic diversions and alternate routes

For District Central, commuters coming from Nazimabad can use Lasbela Chowk via Nishtar Road and Garden to reach their destination. Those coming from Liaquatabad can use Teen Hatti, then turn towards Lasbela Chowk, and proceed to Central Jail (Martin Road).

Traffic from Hasan Square to Peoples Chowrangi will be diverted via Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal (Shahrah-e-Quaideen), and Jail Flyover, eventually reaching Teen Hatti to Nishtar Road (Lasbela).

The traffic police spokesperson said no traffic will be allowed from Guru Mandir to Numaish under any circumstances.

In District East, vehicles heading from Shahrah-e-Faisal to Numaish via Noorani Kebab must turn at Society Light Signal and use Kashmir Road to continue toward their destination.

Commuters from Central Jail Gate (Jamshed Road) heading toward Guru Mandir and MA Jinnah Road will be diverted via Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar.

In District South, vehicles from Garden Zoological area to MA Jinnah Road will be diverted via Anklesaria Hospital, turning either right toward Gul Plaza or left toward Coast Guard/Holy Family Hospital.

Traffic intending to reach Burns Road will be sent via Abdullah Haroon Road to MR Kiyani Chowk. However, no traffic will be allowed from MR Kiyani Chowk to Court Road (Kabootar Chowrangi). All such vehicles will be diverted via Arts Council to Pakistan Chowk.

Similarly, traffic from Shahrah-e-Liaquat to Burns Road will be redirected at Aram Bagh Light Signal toward Pakistan Chowk.

Restrictions for heavy, commercial vehicles

Heavy and commercial vehicles heading from Super Highway or Gulberg to MA Jinnah Road will be diverted at Liaquatabad No 10 toward Nazimabad No 2 Chowrangi, then via Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, and Sher Shah to Mauripur. The route is to be used for both entry and return.

Vehicles from National Highway intending to enter the city must use Shahrah-e-Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hasan Square, Liaquatabad No 10, and follow the same Sher Shah-Mauripur route.

No vehicle, regardless of size, will be allowed to enter Guru Mandir Chowk or the procession route. All such traffic will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar.
