Armed assailants gunned down two men — a brother-in-law and his brother-in-law's brother — near Chak 276-JB Dandiwal in Faisalabad district, reportedly over an old enmity.
Maryam Ahmad, wife of one of the deceased, told investigators that her husband Aamir Khan and her brother Ehsan were returning to their village after purchasing medicine from Adda Pansera when they were ambushed by rivals traveling in a car.
The attackers, identified as Asif Maqbool, Zain, Sikandar, and Akbar alias Akbari — sons of Maqbool — and their accomplices, opened fire. Ehsan died on the spot, while Aamir succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Upon receiving information, SP Iqbal Town Saeed Ahmad, DSP Saddar, and SHO Thikriwala Mian Wajid reached the site, shifted the bodies to hospital, and registered a murder case against the nominated suspects.
Police officials revealed that accused Asif Maqbool had previously registered a murder case (FIR No. 366/23, under Section 302, at Police Station Nawan Lahore) against Ehsan, which was believed to be the motive behind the double murder. Raids are underway to arrest the culprits.
Meanwhile, a wanted robber was killed in an alleged police encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in the Rodala Road area on Saturday.
