Filmmaker Woody Allen spoke about Donald Trump during a recent appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, recalling Trump’s cameo in Allen’s 1998 film Celebrity.

Allen described Trump as “very polite,” “hit his mark,” and said he had “a real flair for show business.” He also suggested he would be interested in directing Trump again, even joking that he could do “wonders” if Trump agreed.

During the conversation, Maher brought up the longstanding sexual abuse allegations against Allen, which have resurfaced during the #MeToo movement. The allegations involve accusations that Allen sexually abused his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow as a child.

Allen acknowledged the public scrutiny but said he felt fortunate it occurred later in his career. He noted that the allegations were investigated twice and were deemed unsubstantiated.

Maher also suggested Allen had been a victim of excessive cancel culture, a point Allen agreed with, noting it came from both the left and the right.

Despite ongoing public criticism, Allen emphasized that these controversies had not significantly harmed his long career in filmmaking.

The interview adds to ongoing discussions around Woody Allen’s career, the allegations against him, and his continued presence in public and media conversations.
