Szczerek's apology comes amid renewd backlash for defending his actions earlier, and his company being review-bombed.

Polish CEO Piotr Szczerek has issued a public apology after footage showed him taking a signed cap from a young fan during the US Open.

Szczerek, who heads paving stone company Drogbruk, explained that he misunderstood the moment when tennis player Kamil Majchrzak offered his cap following victory over Karen Khachanov. He believed the hat was intended for his own children, who had been requesting autographs earlier.
