MrBeast’s YouTube Shorts have officially overtaken his long-form videos in total viewership, signaling a major milestone for the platform’s top creator and the rise of short-form content.

Since their launch in 2021, YouTube Shorts have become a central part of the platform, designed to compete with TikTok and Instagram Reels. While some fans have expressed frustration over Shorts being mixed into the main app, recent numbers highlight their growing dominance.

According to MrBeast Statistics, Shorts uploaded to Jimmy Donaldson’s channel have now generated 47.3 billion views, surpassing the 46.6 billion views accumulated by his long-form content as of August 22. This means Shorts officially account for more than half of his channel’s total watch count.

Several of MrBeast’s Shorts have performed exceptionally well, with four clips each surpassing one billion views. By comparison, his most-watched long-form video, the viral real-life Squid Game recreation released in 2021, currently sits at 871 million views.

Additionally, analytics from MrBeast Insights revealed that his 1 Subscriber = 1 Penny Donated Short broke records by reaching over 68 million views in just 24 hours, making it one of the fastest-growing videos in YouTube history.

The success of MrBeast’s Shorts underscores a larger trend on YouTube, where creators are increasingly turning to short-form content. Some report earning thousands of dollars monthly from AI-generated Shorts that take only a few hours to produce.

For MrBeast, the shift cements Shorts not as an experimental feature, but as a leading force in shaping the future of YouTube content.
