Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are soaking up their engagement joy—but wedding plans can wait.
“Taylor and Travis have been in celebration mode ever since the engagement,” a source close to the couple told PEOPLE. “They’re not in the wedding planning phase yet.”
The pop superstar and NFL tight end, both 35, announced their engagement on August 26 in a joint Instagram post nearly two years after making their relationship public. Alongside a series of romantic photos, the caption read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married”—a playful nod to their nickname "TNT."
According to the source, the couple is enjoying the freedom of sharing their happy news publicly. “It’s been a relief not having to keep it a secret anymore,” they said. “They’re glad it’s out in the open.”
Kelce proposed two weeks before the announcement in an intimate backyard setting filled with flowers. His father, Ed Kelce, shared details of the moment during an interview on Australia’s The Jimmy & Nath Show with Emma.
“They were going out to dinner, and Travis suggested having a glass of wine on the patio first,” Ed recalled. “I think Taylor knew something was up when she saw all the extra flowers outside.”
Both families are thrilled about the engagement. The insider shared that there were “toasts, happy tears, and lots of excitement” following the big reveal.
Kelce’s mom, Donna, has already started saving mementos from this special time. “She’s sentimental,” the source noted. “She’s been holding onto photos, notes, and flowers—anything to remember these early days of their engagement.”
For now, though, Swift and Kelce are in no rush. “They just want to enjoy this chapter,” the insider added. “They’re taking their time.”
