Govt cuts diesel price, keeps petrol unchanged
The federal government has revised petroleum product prices for the next 15 days, keeping petrol unchanged while reducing rates of high-speed diesel, kerosene and light diesel oil.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on Sunday, the price of petrol will remain fixed at Rs264.61 per litre. However, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs3 per litre, bringing it down to Rs269.99 per litre.
Similarly, kerosene oil has been slashed by Rs1.46 per litre to Rs176.81 per litre, while light diesel oil has been lowered by Rs2.40 per litre, setting the new rate at Rs159.76 per litre.
The revised petroleum prices have taken effect immediately and will remain applicable for the next 15 days.
This is second time in a row the government slashed the price of high-speed diesel and kept the petrol rate unchanged. On August 15, the government had cut the HSD price by Rs12.84 per litre.
