Over 72,000 rescued from submerged areas

Floodwaters continue to inundate vast areas of Punjab, with Rescue 1122, Edhi Foundation, police and multiple government agencies engaged in large-scale evacuation and relief operations.

More than 72,812 people have so far been rescued from flood-hit regions.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmed, the worst-affected areas include low-lying regions along the Ravi, Sutlej, Chenab, Jhelum, and Indus rivers, where coordinated rescue efforts are underway to move residents to safer locations.

In Lahore, flooding has been reported in Farkhabad, Manga Mandi, Theme Park, Park View City and Babu Sabu. By Friday afternoon, 144 people had been evacuated, including 28 from Park View City and 57 from Theme Park.

"Search and rescue operations are ongoing with boats and trained personnel deployed across vulnerable zones," said Rescue 1122 official Muhammad Shazib.

Citizens have been urged to call 1122 for immediate assistance.

The Edhi Foundation has also mobilised its marine teams across affected districts.

In Lahore, Edhi teams rescued more than 235 people, including women, children, pets, and livestock, from areas such as Thokar Niaz Baig and Park View. Medical camps have been established, and ambulances are transporting survivors to safe zones. Citizens have been asked to call 115 for emergency help.

Across Punjab, dozens of districts have been hit hard. Rescue 1122 reported that 779 boats are operating province-wide, with 922 new rescues carried out in the past 24 hours alone.
