BAFTA-winning actor Micheal Ward, best known for his role in the Netflix series Top Boy, appeared in a London courtroom on Thursday to face multiple sexual offense charges.

Ward, 28, was formally charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault in connection with an alleged incident involving one woman in January 2023, according to the Metropolitan Police. The charges were announced last month, and Ward has denied all allegations.

During the preliminary hearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court, Ward confirmed his name, address, and date of birth. Wearing a black jacket and sunglasses, the actor remained composed as the case was transferred to Snaresbrook Crown Court, where the next hearing is scheduled for September 25.

In a statement issued in July, Ward rejected the claims, saying: “I deny the charges against me entirely. I have cooperated fully with the police throughout their investigation and will continue to cooperate. I recognize that proceedings are now ongoing, and I have full faith that they will lead to my name being cleared.”

Ward, who was born in Jamaica and raised in the UK, rose to fame for his breakout role as Jamie in Top Boy. His career has since expanded to include roles in Blue Story, Empire of Light, The Old Guard, and most recently Eddington, which debuted in theaters on August 22. Before acting, he worked as a model and appeared in music videos for artists including Lily Allen and Tom Walker.
