Helldivers 2 has reached a new player milestone following its launch on Xbox and the addition of Halo-themed content. The game, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, surpassed 500,490 players in total, according to the company’s CEO.
The co-operative shooter first released in February 2024 and quickly gained attention for its chaotic combat and faction-based galactic warfare.
Until recently, the game was available only on PlayStation and PC, where its peak concurrent player count reached 458,000 at launch. Average player numbers in recent months had been significantly lower, with Steam Charts reporting around 33,956 players on PC over the last 30 days.
The Xbox release in August 2025 has brought the title to all major platforms, excluding Nintendo’s Switch 2, and has contributed to its sharp resurgence.
The launch coincided with the arrival of the latest Warbond, a battle pass expansion featuring Halo-inspired weapons, armour, and gear. Both developments have been credited with boosting engagement across the player base.
Helldivers 2’s jump in activity highlights the demand fans had expressed for an Xbox version since the game’s initial release. The combination of new content and cross-platform availability has reignited interest more than a year after launch, giving the game its strongest numbers to date.
Arrowhead’s figures suggest that the combination of accessibility and themed updates is key to maintaining long-term engagement. With the Halo crossover and expanded console support, Helldivers 2 has demonstrated the ability to attract both returning and new players.
The game’s resurgence more than a year on indicates that community-driven demand and regular content releases remain central to sustaining live-service titles.
