Lola Tung and Nico Parker star in The Young People from Longlegs director Osgood Perkins
Lola Tung and Nico Parker have been tapped to star in The Young People, the latest feature from Osgood Perkins, director of Longlegs. The film is based on a script written by Perkins, who will also serve as a producer.
The project will be co-financed by Neon and Lyrical Media, with Neon handling theatrical distribution. Perkins will produce under his Phobos banner alongside Chris Ferguson, with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones producing for Range. Production is scheduled to begin this fall in Vancouver. Plot details are being kept under wraps.
The announcement follows Perkins’ first-look deal with Neon, which previously partnered with him on Longlegs and Monkey. Neon will also release his next film, Keeper, on Nov. 14. The distributor, which won best picture Oscars for Anora (2024) and Parasite, is expanding its slate with Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice and multiple premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Tung is currently leading Season 3 of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty. She recently completed filming on the horror feature Forbidden Fruits, slated for a 2026 theatrical release, and made her Broadway debut earlier this year in Hadestown as Eurydice.
Parker recently wrapped work on Universal’s live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon and stars in Maude Apatow’s debut feature Poetic License, premiering at TIFF next week. Her past credits include Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Suncoast, and HBO’s The Last of Us, which earned her a BAFTA Television Award nomination in 2024.
