No Man’s Sky ‘Voyagers’ update brings corvette-class ships and multiplayer crews

Chief developer Sean Murray described Corvettes as large, customizable ships with detailed interiors

Nearly a decade after No Man’s Sky first launched, Hello Games has released the ambitious Voyagers update, adding major new features including a Corvette-class ship and multiplayer crew support. The update brings a wealth of content designed to deepen the game’s space exploration and social elements.

Chief developer Sean Murray described Corvettes as large, customizable ships with detailed interiors like med-bays, sleeping quarters, war rooms, radars, and teleporters. Players can design their own sci-fi vessels, decorate them, and invite friends to crew their ships—allowing for shared adventures in the vast universe.

“You spend countless hours searching the universe for your perfect ship,” Murray said. “But what if you could design your own? Get out mid-flight and walk around? Invite friends aboard as crew? That’s the ultimate fantasy.”

Voyagers also adds a host of other features such as assembling ships, mission radar, autopilot, spacewalking, skydiving, new missions, starship interiors, varied cockpits, a new spacesuit, graphical improvements, and a new expedition aimed at helping players unlock Corvette parts quickly.

This update represents a major technical achievement. The team reworked almost every part of the game to enable seamless multiplayer interactions—even allowing players to walk around their ships as they warp through the galaxy.

Interestingly, much of the new technology behind Voyagers will be shared with Hello Games’ upcoming title, Light No Fire—a truly open-world game set on a massive shared planet with oceans, large boats, and crews. While there’s no release date yet for Light No Fire, the connection highlights how Voyagers serves as a testing ground for future innovations.

To celebrate No Man’s Sky’s ninth anniversary, Hello Games also launched new merchandise including plushies, vinyl soundtracks, and apparel.

Voyagers marks another impressive chapter in No Man’s Sky’s ongoing evolution, offering players new ways to explore, create, and connect across the stars.
