JARANWALA:

Unidentified assailants broke into a house and slit the throat of an elderly man with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot and leaving his son critically injured.

Police took the body into custody and shifted it to hospital, where the injured man is also said to be in a critical condition.

Police said the incident took place in the Sandal Bar area of Faisalabad's Chak 30 JB. Two unidentified men entered the home of 45-year-old Tanveer, in the last hours of the night. They allegedly attacked 80-year-old Ibrahim, who had been sleeping in the garage, slitting his throat and killing him instantly. His son Tanveer was also attacked with a knife to the throat and sustained serious injuries. The attackers fled the scene.

Following reports of murder, SP Iqbal Town Saeed Ahmed, DSP Saddar Division, and Sandal Bar SHO Inspector Shakeeb Raza Butt reached the spot. Police shifted the body of Ibrahim to hospital and began questioning in connection with the case.
