Missing person' linked to minister's house arson

KARACHI:

The SHC on Wednesday disposed of a petition seeking the recovery of four missing persons after learning that one of them had been arrested for torching the house of Sindh home minister.

During the hearing, police informed the court that Abdul Latif, earlier listed among the missing, had in fact been arrested in Moro in connection with the arson incident. "He is not missing; he is under arrest for setting fire to the minister's residence," the police report stated.

The court also wrapped up proceedings on another case after being told that Muhammad Irfan, reported missing from Malir Cantt, had safely returned home.

However, the petitioner's counsel pointed out that two other men — Noor Muhammad and Abdul Qadeer — have been missing from the City area since 2012, with no headway made in tracing them. The SHC referred their cases to the Missing Persons Commission for further action.
