A man stabbed four members of his family to death and injured a child in Hayer area on Tuesday night.
Police said the suspect, Imran, attacked his relatives with a knife during an altercation at his in-laws' residence.
His wife Fauzia, 14-year-old daughter Zainab, 15-year-old nephew Raza, and 55-year-old father-in-law were killed. The suspect's younger daughter was injured in the assault, while his minor son managed to escape unharmed.
Rescue teams shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination.
The injured girl was admitted for treatment, where doctors later declared her condition stable.
Police officials said Imran fled after the incident. Initial investigations revealed that he had been released from jail a few months earlier and was involved in longstanding family disputes. His wife had been residing with her parents due to these issues. He reportedly visited the house to reconcile, but a heated argument broke out that escalated into the knife attack. SP Cantt Qazi Ali Raza said a case had been registered at Hayer police station on the complaint of Fauzia's brother, Nadeem.
Forensic experts collected evidence from the crime scene, which showed multiple stab wounds on each victim, confirming the use of a sharp-edged weapon.
