CM, WB team discuss fiscal reforms

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah held two key meetings with a World Bank delegation led by Country Director Bolormaa Amgaabazar at CM House, focusing on fiscal reforms and reviewing ongoing development projects.

The first session addressed strategies to enhance revenue generation and improve service delivery. Discussions included boosting provincial income through Agriculture Income Tax, Sales Tax on Services, and Property Taxes.

The CM emphasised the Sindh Public Resources for Inclusive Development (PRID) initiative, aimed at strengthening own-source revenue, implementing pension reforms, and ensuring timely school budget allocations.

The second meeting reviewed progress on World Bank-supported projects, with both sides agreeing to accelerate efforts in human development. Improving expenditure quality in education and health, digitising government payments, and reforming the Sindh Bureau of Statistics to enhance data integration and tax forecasting were key points.

The meeting, held at CM House, was attended by Sharjeel Memon, Dr Azra Fazal, Nasir Shah, Sardar Shah, Jam Khan Shoro, Mohammad Ali Malkani, Chairman P&D Najam Shah, Secretary Finance Fayaz Jatoi and others.

The Government of Sindh reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and evidence-based policymaking to drive sustainable economic growth and better public services.
