Man throws acid on wife over domestic dispute
A 19-year-old woman sustained burns after her husband allegedly threw acid on her over a domestic dispute in Sammundri, local police officials said on Tuesday.
Police said as per the initial reports, Ayesha, daughter of Muhammad Anwar and a resident of Housing Colony No. 1, was married a year ago to Khadim Hussain, from Ashrafabad.
Ayesha reportedly asked her husband for household expenses, which led to an argument. In a fit of rage, Khadim allegedly hurled acid on her.
The attack caused burns to Ayesha's face, left shoulder, and the back of both hands. She was first taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sammundri for emergency treatment and later shifted to the Burn Unit of Allied Hospital Faisalabad due to the seriousness of her injuries.
Police teams, including SP Saddar Division Muhammad Tahir, DSP Sammundri, and SHO City Sammundri Rao Aftab Waseem, reached the site soon after the incident.
A search operation has been launched to arrest the suspect, who fled the scene. City Police Officer Faisalabad Sahibzada Bilal Umar also took notice of the incident, sought a detailed report, and constituted special teams under DSP Sammundri to conduct raids for the suspect's arrest.
In a separate case of domestic violence, Women Police Station staff in Faisalabad arrested a man and his father on charges of assaulting his wife, which allegedly caused the loss of her pregnancy.
The complainant, Hina, stated that her husband, Muhammad Hussain, along with his father, Muhammad Yousaf, physically abused her, breaking her nasal bone, and forcibly administered medicine to terminate her pregnancy.
Following her complaint, SHO Women Police Station Madiha Irshad and her team arrested both suspects and registered a case.
They have been remanded to lock-up for further investigation.
SHO Irshad stressed that violence against women and children would not be tolerated, and strict legal measures would be taken against perpetrators.
