Sawyer Hemsley, co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of Crumbl Cookies, has publicly confirmed that he is gay, ending weeks of speculation and discussion on social media.

In an Instagram post shared on August 25, Hemsley explained that accepting his sexuality “has taken me a long time,” calling the revelation “a journey of growth and honesty” that he is deeply grateful for.

This confirmation comes after several days of scrutiny across TikTok, Reddit, and other online forums, where users questioned aspects of Hemsley’s appearance and mannerisms, sparking widespread commentary and speculation.

In his post, Hemsley acknowledged the values he was raised with and emphasized his lasting respect for them, suggesting a thoughtful integration of his personal truth with his roots.

Hemsley co-founded Crumbl with his cousin Jason McGowan while attending Utah State University in 2017.

Since then, the company has grown rapidly, expanding into hundreds of locations across the US and Canada with its signature rotating cookie menu and viral social media presence.

His public coming out has drawn attention to the personal challenge of reconciling one’s identity with public expectations, particularly stemming from his upbringing.

While social media reactions varied, many praised his honesty and courage in sharing this part of his identity openly.
