Four officers have been transferred from the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi Headquarters in the first phase of reshuffling. In the next round, transfers of officers posted in the Challan Branch and positions such as PSO are also expected.
According to the sources, certain officers had been holding the same postings in the headquarters and different branches for extended periods, due to which complaints had been received that some officers were rotated between branches or continued working in their previous roles despite being officially posted elsewhere.
Sources added that the newly appointed Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, who has previously served in different positions in the city, decided to replace long-standing officers and traffic wardens in light of these complaints.
In the first phase, Senior Traffic Warden Zubairul Hassan, known for his good reputation, has been appointed as In-charge Establishment Branch (OSI), replacing the previous officer. Similarly, Senior Traffic Warden Faisal Basheer has been appointed as MTO, replacing the officer who had held the post for a long time. Senior Traffic Warden Saqib Rizwan has been posted as Reader, while Traffic Warden Kashif Naveed has been appointed as Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi.
Before the transfer of the former CTO Rawalpindi, he had appointed then-PSO Umair Satti as Personal Staff Officer to the CTO and made several other transfers, which had sparked much debate within traffic police circles.
Sources indicate that lists are being prepared of officers who repeatedly secure postings at the headquarters, checkpoints, and offices. In the next phase, transfers are also likely of PSO Umair Satti, staff of the Challan Branch, DHQ, and other branches.
Meanwhile, it has also been learned that a high-level inquiry is underway into allegations that wardens at the Traffic Headquarters have been exceeding their powers and bypassing rules and regulations. Once completed, this inquiry is expected to reveal major irregularities.
