The death of a kabaddi player, earlier reported as a suicide, has now been declared a murder by his family.
The father, Muhammad Iqbal, claimed that his son was poisoned by Kiran Bibi, her associate Hafza Bibi and an unidentified male accomplice.
Muhammad Iqbal alleged that the suspects had extorted Rs1.2 million from Roshan Iqbal.
When he repeatedly demanded repayment, they allegedly poisoned him to avoid returning the money and then attempted to portray the incident as a suicide.
Four days ago, police at Tiba Sultanpur police station, under Circle Mailsi, received a report of an alleged suicide in Chak 166-WB, claiming that Roshan Iqbal, a kabaddi player from Kot Bahadur, Tehsil Jahanian, had taken his own life. However, following the father's statement, police have registered a case against the two nominated women and one unknown man.
Station House Officer (SHO) Chaudhry Ashraf Zahoor confirmed that an FIR has been lodged and said that police are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the case. He added that the accused are on the run but will soon be brought to justice.
