LAHORE:

The city received moderate to heavy rain on Monday with the Met Office predicting similar weather during the next 24 hours.

The rain made the city's weather pleasant with a reduction in humidity afterwards. Wind speed was recorded at 13 kilometres per hour.

The rain affected the electric supply system and several areas witnessed power outages.

Met officials said the eighth spell of this year's monsoon rains was continuing across Punjab with more heavy rains predicted.

During the last 24 hours, 27mm of rain was recorded in Narowal, 5mm in Sialkot, 4mm in Kasur, 3mm in Lahore and Gujranwala, and 1mm in Gujrat and Khanewal.

The weather experts warned that heavy downpours on Tuesday might cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Narowal, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala and Lahore.

Torrential rains may cause flash floods in local streams. The residents were warned that heavy falls, windstorms and lightning might damage weak structures.
