PTI accuses police of crackdown on protest
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi chapter, on Saturday, accused police of using force to break up its "peaceful march" at Banaras Chowk and arresting several party leaders and workers.
PTI Karachi President Raja Azhar and General Secretary Arsalan Khalid condemned what they called "police high-handedness," claiming those taken into custody included Town Chairman Gohar Ali Khattak, Advocate Attaullah, Saeed Afridi and others. They demanded the release of the detained leaders and activists and held the Sindh government responsible for the incident.
Meanwhile, SSP West Tariq Mastoi said the protest was staged without prior permission and raised concerns over law and order. He confirmed that more than a dozen people were detained and that further legal action would be taken.
Police later dispersed the protesters and the demonstration ended after the detentions.
