Drake has expanded his collection of hip-hop memorabilia with one of the rarest pieces linked to the late Tupac Shakur.
The Canadian rapper revealed on Instagram that he purchased a diamond-encrusted Death Row Records pendant once owned by Shakur, tagging collector Alexander Bitar, who confirmed the deal.
The pendant, which features the engraving “All Eyez on YOU,” is considered one of the most exclusive pieces of jewelry associated with Shakur. While the exact sale price has not been disclosed, similar Death Row chains have been estimated between $500,000 and $1 million at past auctions.
This acquisition follows Drake’s headline-making purchase in July 2023, when he bought Tupac’s custom gold crown ring for $1.01 million at Sotheby’s. That ring, engraved with “Pac & Dada 1996” in reference to Shakur’s then-fiancée Kidada Jones, was worn during Shakur’s final public appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards.
The latest purchase has divided fans online. Some celebrated Drake’s investment in preserving hip-hop history, while others criticized him, arguing that Tupac would not have approved. One viral comment read, “Pac would’ve hated Drake as much as DMX did.” Others drew connections to Drake’s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar, who recently referenced Shakur in his track “Not Like Us.”

Y’all fake mad at Drake but why is Tupac’s actual Death Row chain in some random collectors hand to be purchased in the first place & not in some museum somewhere?

Regardless of the backlash, Drake continues to demonstrate his interest in acquiring cultural artifacts tied to one of rap’s most influential figures. For hip-hop collectors and fans, the pendant represents a rare glimpse into the legacy of Tupac Shakur and the elite status of Death Row Records in the 1990s.
