Pakistan-US trade hits $7.6b
Bilateral trade between Pakistan and the United States has seen a significant increase during the current fiscal year.
According to sources, in FY 2024-25 the trade volume between the two countries rose by 16%, reaching $7.598 billion.
Data shows that Pakistan's exports to the US stands at $5.836 billion, marking a 10% rise compared to last year. On the other hand, imports from the US amounts to $1.763 billion, reflecting a sharp 40% increase.
In the export sector, textile products remained dominant. Exports of bed sheets, tablecloths, and kitchen linen reached $1.038 billion, while exports of men's suits, jackets, and trousers stood at $936 million.
Other ready-made garments fetched $386 million, T-shirts $361 million, jerseys and cardigans $312 million, and hosiery (socks) $278 million.
Exports of knitted men's shirts were valued at $244 million, leather goods at $165 million, and women's suits, jackets, and dresses at $157 million.
On the import side, the highest growth was recorded in cotton imports, which climbed to $393 million. Iron and steel scrap imports stood at $159 million, soybeans at $137 million, and coal at $56 million.
Other major imports included chemical wood pulp and gas turbines (each $50 million), automatic data processing machines ($40 million), petroleum oil ($38 million), medical instruments ($36 million), and dry fruits ($33 million).
