Hitman, accomplice held for trader's murder

The plan was finalised at the place of a so-called spiritual healer

KARACHI:

Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a hitman and his accomplice involved in the killing of a cloth trader in Orangi Town.

The trader, Muhammad Naeem, was gunned down in Orangi Town on August 18 while he was riding a motorcycle. Police said that after examining CCTV and acting on a tip-off, an investigation team arrested the two suspects and recovered two handguns, ammunition and the motorcycle used in the crime.

The DSP identified the arrested suspects as Muhammad Naveed, alias Shakir who allegedly opened fire, and Muhammad Umar who was riding the motorcycle.

During interrogation, the suspects disclosed that the murder was carried out on the instructions of another trader from the same market, who had developed a personal grudge against Naeem.

The plan was finalised at the place of a so-called spiritual healer, police added.
