PM removes deputy AG following viral assault video involving his wife
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has dismissed Deputy Attorney General Salman Khurshid after a video of his wife assaulting a woman and her daughter went viral on social media.
The incident took place on August 17 in Multan, where Zahida Khurshid — wife of Salman Khurshid — was caught on camera beating a woman and her daughter following a road accident. Authorities took notice and launched an inquiry.
Investigations revealed that Maimoona, wife of Muhammad Imran and a resident of Tariq Road, was riding a motorcycle with her daughter Nisa and son-in-law Allah Bachaya when their bike accidentally collided with Zahida’s car in Garden Town.
In a fit on rage, Zahida, along with her sister Shahida Khurshid and her son, allegedly attacked the bikers.
Cantt Police registered FIR No. 2295/25 under Sections 354, 342, and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and arrested all three suspects. They were later produced before the duty judge of the District and Sessions Court Multan, who granted them bail against surety bonds of Rs50,000 each.
Following the incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif removed Salman Khurshid from his post and forwarded the summary of his dismissal to the President.
