RAWALPINDI:

A sub-inspector posted at Pirwadhai police station has been suspended after being allegedly caught on video taking bribes inside the station.

The footage, which surfaced recently, shows the uniformed sub-inspector sitting in his office, engaged in conversation with several individuals.

At one point, a man can be heard placing money in front of another person and saying, "Make him take it, but remind him of his promise." The sub-inspector is then seen moving his hand toward the side of the table.

The video also records an exchange between the citizen and the officer over the payment. The citizen is heard saying, "The amount is full, not half, but the rest will be given once the work is done and results are achieved. We will not backtrack on our agreement."

Another individual in plain clothes is seen sitting beside the officer, smoking a cigarette, while the sub-inspector is also caught tearing some papers.

Taking notice of the alleged corruption, City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani suspended Sub-Inspector Ashraf and issued him a charge sheet. SSP Operations Kashif Zulfiqar has been appointed as the inquiry officer and directed to submit a report.

CPO Hamdani said that anyone damaging the department's integrity would face strict accountability, adding that misuse of authority and corruption would not be tolerated. "Officers must set their affairs right," he warned.
