Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater includes a remake of the hidden Guy Savage mode, developed in collaboration with PlatinumGames, the studio known for Bayonetta and Nier: Automata.

The mode, originally featured in Metal Gear Solid 3 on PlayStation 2, was a short hack-and-slash sequence accessible by saving while Snake was imprisoned and then reloading the game.

In the sequence, players controlled a character referred to as Guy Savage, battling through a surreal, demon-filled landscape. While included in the 2004 release, the mode was removed from later versions of the game, including re-releases and HD collections.

In Metal Gear Solid Delta, the mode returns as Guy Savage Delta. This updated version can still be triggered through the original method, but is also unlocked as a standalone option via the main menu after completing the game.

PlatinumGames worked on redesigning the mode to suit modern platforms while retaining the distinct gameplay that made it a fan-favourite secret.

Reviews of the main game have praised the remake’s faithful recreation of the stealth-action mechanics and story.

IGN awarded the game 8/10, noting: “Between its old-school stealth-action gameplay and engaging spy-thriller story, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater largely succeeds as a faithful, visually impressive remake of the 2004 classic.”

With the addition of Guy Savage Delta, long-time fans are given both a nostalgic return and a new way to experience one of the series’ most unusual secrets.

The title will be released on August 28 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
