Overwatch 2 confirms Persona 5 collaboration as Joker appears in Season 18 trailer

Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch 2 will feature a collaboration with Atlus’ Persona 5, with Joker making an appearance in the game’s Season 18 launch trailer. The reveal marks the first time characters from the Persona series will cross over into the hero shooter.
The confirmation came at the end of the official Season 18 trailer. Following the usual closing splash screen, the trailer transitioned into the distinctive red and black visual style associated with the Phantom Thieves. Joker then appeared briefly on screen, confirming the Persona 5 crossover event.
Although some fans speculated that Joker could become a playable hero, the teaser suggests the collaboration will primarily feature themed cosmetic content.
Previous Overwatch 2 collaborations, such as those with Cowboy Bebop, One Punch Man, and Transformers, have taken a similar approach by adapting existing heroes with crossover skins rather than introducing entirely new characters.
Traditionally, these collaborations include hero skins, emotes, sprays, and other cosmetic items. While Blizzard has not yet confirmed the full scope of the Persona 5 event, players can expect a range of Phantom Thieves-inspired cosmetics to arrive during Season 18 or a future mid-season update.
The appearance of Joker has also reignited fan discussion about which Overwatch 2 heroes might receive Persona 5-themed skins. Predictions include Ryuji, Ann, Morgana, and Futaba, although Blizzard has not officially announced which characters will be featured.
The crossover has been anticipated for years. In 2023, then–Overwatch 2 Executive Producer Jared Neuss described himself as “a big ol’ Persona nerd” and said he would welcome such a collaboration.
Although Neuss departed the Overwatch team earlier in 2025, negotiations with Atlus appear to have continued, resulting in the upcoming event.
