Malik Taylor, the rising TikTok creator and YouTuber best known for The Unpopular Party, has passed away at the age of 28 following a car accident in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The news was confirmed by Alpha Kappa Psi’s Zeta Phi chapter at Austin Peay State University, where Taylor was remembered as “a light to everyone, always bringing laughter, joy, and a warm smile that brightened every room he entered.”

Taylor, who left his teaching career in 2023 to pursue content creation full-time, quickly gained a devoted following of more than 250,000 across TikTok and Instagram, with nearly 80,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Just one day before his death, Taylor posted a video about his move from Memphis to Charlotte, North Carolina, joking: “Because I heard the Queen City needed a king.” That clip has since gone viral as fans struggle to process the shock of his passing.
