Oscar-nominated actress Kirsten Dunst has revealed she would consider appearing in Minecraft 2, citing her children’s love for the original film and a desire for more practical career decisions.

Speaking to Town & Country magazine, Dunst reflected on balancing artistic projects with more commercial roles. “Maybe I can just make a movie where I don’t lose money?” she remarked, noting that her children enjoyed the blockbuster hit.

A Minecraft Movie earned $955 million worldwide, ranking as the third highest-grossing film of 2025 despite mixed reviews.

The film adaptation of the hit video game features Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen as a band of misfits transported into a strange block-shaped world. Guided by a skilled crafter played by Jack Black, they set out on a fantastical journey to find their way back home.

Dunst is best known for her collaborations with directors such as Sofia Coppola, Lars von Trier, Jane Campion and Alex Garland and is set to star in the thriller Reptilia alongside Mikey Madison.

The actress has previously balanced independent films with mainstream successes, including her role as Mary Jane in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.

In an interview last year, she said she would gladly return to the superhero genre, acknowledging both the financial stability and the family responsibilities that influence her career decisions.
