This week, rapper DDG and actress-singer Halle Bailey were both placed under a social media ban in connection with their ongoing custody dispute.

A Los Angeles judge ordered that neither parent may post about the other or their child online, extending restrictions previously in place only for DDG.

The order was issued by Judge Angela Davis after a tense courtroom session on August 21. During testimony, DDG’s mother was asked to leave the courtroom, and the atmosphere grew increasingly strained.

Prosecutors argued that DDG had staged paparazzi-style photographs during a public outing, claiming such activity placed the child into the spotlight unnecessarily. They also alleged his online following had subjected Bailey to harassment whenever she appeared in his orbit. Their position was that social media exposure should be eliminated entirely, with his visitation supervised to prevent what they described as “performance parenting.”

The defence countered that DDG had no control over paparazzi and pressed for a structured visitation plan. Proposed arrangements included Saturdays, alternating Sundays, and a mid-week session. His legal team also requested that monitoring during visits be limited to preventing photography rather than interference in his parental relationship.

Judge Davis ultimately ruled in favour of discretion, extending the social media gag order to both parents and granting only supervised visitation for DDG until the next hearing scheduled for October 15. Both parents now face significant restrictions, with future visitation rights and digital boundaries to be reassessed.
