Morgan Wallen will not be submitting his latest chart-topping album, I’m the Problem, for Grammy Award consideration, his team confirmed to Variety. The decision includes not only Wallen’s own submissions but also bars songwriters who contributed to the project from entering their work.

The news, first reported by Hits and Billboard, had previously been attributed to unnamed sources, but Wallen’s team has now provided official confirmation. I’m the Problem has been a commercial powerhouse since its release, spending 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The 37-track album includes multiple hits, such as four No. 1 singles on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, three on the Hot Country Songs chart, and the Billboard Hot 100-topping duet “What I Want” with Tate McRae.

Despite Wallen’s massive commercial success and streaming dominance, he remains a polarizing figure within the music industry, likely influencing his absence from major award recognition. While he occasionally receives nominations, major industry awards, including the Grammys and those within the country music establishment, have largely overlooked him. To date, Wallen has received only one Grammy nomination, for his contribution to Post Malone’s F1 Trillion album.

Though Grammy boycotts have been a common move for artists feeling underrepresented or unfairly judged—such as the Weeknd, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé—many of those artists have since reconciled with the Recording Academy. Wallen’s case appears to be more complex, with much of the tension rooted in the Nashville industry rather than with the Grammy voting base itself.

While Wallen has yet to publicly comment on the decision, the lack of Grammy submissions underscores his ongoing estrangement from industry institutions, even as he remains one of country music’s most commercially successful stars.
