KARACHI:

Significant progress has been made in draining rainwater from underpasses and main roads across Karachi, allowing traffic to resume on several key routes.

According to the Karachi Commissioner’s Office, the KPT Underpass and Khayabn-e-Iqbal Road Underpass in Clifton have been cleared and reopened for traffic. Major thoroughfares, including Shahrae Faisal, MA Jinnah Road, Sher Shah Suri Road, and Korangi’s Jam Sadiq Bridge are now functional.

Despite these developments, some areas remain inaccessible. The Korangi Causeway and EBM Causeway continue to be closed due to water accumulation, along with the Drigh Road and Nazimabad underpasses. Commuters have been advised to take alternative routes to avoid delays and congestion.

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi thanked the Sindh government for providing 250 dewatering pumps, which he said played a vital role in clearing rainwater and restoring traffic flow on critical roads.
