Court orders filing of case in Humaira Asghar's death
The Additional District and Sessions Judge in Karachi South, while disposing of a petition regarding the recovery of model and actor Humaira Asghar’s body, directed the police to register a case under Section 154 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The court announced its verdict on a petition filed by Advocate Shahzaib Sohail, seeking registration of a murder case in connection with the discovery of the body. The court also directed that statements of the deceased’s family members should be recorded.
In the previous hearing, police had submitted a report to the court, according to which contact had been made with Humaira’s family. Her postmortem had been conducted, and the final forensic report was awaited, after which further action would be taken.
The petition stated that Humaira Asghar had died on October 7, but her phone was in use until February 2025. The phone remained unlocked, and a makeup artist did not respond to calls.
After that, the WhatsApp display picture was also deleted. It was requested that the makeup artist be summoned and that Humaira’s brother and others be included in the investigation.
The police report mentioned that blood samples were taken from the washroom and room. The petition asserted that Humaira Asghar was murdered and requested an FIR be registered. In the petition, SSP South and SHO Gizri were made respondents.
