As anticipation grows for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, Charisma Carpenter, who portrayed Cordelia Chase in the original series, has confirmed she will not be involved in the new show.
The 55-year-old actress addressed fan speculation in a recent TikTok video, stating she has not been contacted by the producers about reprising her role.

"I am not in the reboot. I am not in the pilot. I don’t even know if the show has been picked up to go to series. I assume it will be," Carpenter shared. She also clarified that her new podcast, The B**h Is Back*, was not a cryptic hint about her return to the Buffy universe. "It was not intended to sound decoded in any kind of way," she explained, adding that she hasn’t had any discussions with the creators about bringing back Cordelia at this point.
When asked if she would notify fans if she were ever approached for the reboot, Carpenter replied with a playful wink, “No, I would not tell you. I’d likely be under embargo and not be allowed to say anything about it.”
While Carpenter won't be part of the new Buffy series, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who famously played the titular Slayer, has been active in promoting the reboot. Recently, Gellar posted a video of herself training with Ryan Kiera Armstrong, the new actress set to play the next Slayer. The duo was seen lifting weights, doing planks, and squats as part of their rigorous training routine.
Meanwhile, fans are eagerly speculating about the return of other beloved characters from the original series. Some have called for Eliza Dushku’s character, Faith, to make an appearance, while others have suggested a cameo from Anthony Head as Giles. However, Gellar and the show's producers have kept details of the reboot tightly under wraps, with more information expected when the pilot airs in 2026.
