Two boys killed in garbage dump collapse

Two teenage boys were fatally buried under a heap of garbage in the Hidayat Phatak area along Defence Road.

According to sources, the boys were scavenging plastic bottles from a garbage dump when a large portion of the pile collapsed on them, trapping them beneath.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot with emergency vehicles and launched a search and recovery operation that lasted for several hours.

Despite efforts through the night, both victims were recovered lifeless. They were identified as 16-year-old Afzal, and 15-year-old Abdullah. Their bodies were later shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Rescue 1122 officials said the weight of the debris had caused fatal injuries.
