The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued a written order on a petition challenging the inclusion of the daughter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former provincial minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra in the stop list.
A division bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Khurshid Iqbal heard the case. The court issued notices to the federal government and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), directing them to submit a detailed reply by August 19.
According to the order, the petitioner's counsel, Advocate Ali Gohar, informed the court that the applicant is a student at the University of California and the daughter of the former provincial minister. He argued that her name was placed on the stop list solely for this reason, preventing her from travelling abroad. The counsel stated that if she fails to return to her university, she risks expulsion, and that her name was added to the list without any legal justification.
The order further noted that the student had returned to Pakistan during her summer vacation and was scheduled to fly back to the United States on August 20 from Islamabad Airport. The counsel stressed that she had completed all travel formalities, including visa and ticket arrangements.
