A new Elden Ring Nightreign leak has suggested the arrival of an unreleased ranked survival mode named Deep of Night, discovered by dataminers in the game’s files.

According to Reddit user Administrator, Deep of Night differs from the existing Expeditions in Nightreign, which require players to survive two in-game days in Limgrave before battling a selected final boss.

Instead, the leaked mode tasks Nightfarers with surviving for as long as possible, earning a score based on the “Depth” they reach.

The mode is described as competitive, with skill-based matchmaking and ELO integration, although no in-game examples of this system have been found.

Datamined text indicates: “Targets cannot be chosen, and difficulty increases with depth. Victory increases your rating, allowing you to proceed unto ever greater depths.”

Alongside the new gameplay challenge, the leak references Deep Relics. These are distinct from standard Relics, offering stronger buffs for a chosen Nightfarer but with drawbacks to offset their power. One example shown includes three buffs alongside “Continuous HP Loss” as a penalty.

Up to three Deep Relics can be equipped in new dedicated slots alongside existing Relics, but their effects are reportedly active only during Deep of Night runs.

As with any datamined content, there is no guarantee that the mode will be released in its current form. FromSoftware may alter or remove the feature before an official announcement. It is also unclear whether Deep of Night will be a free update or form part of previously announced DLC.

For now, players can continue exploring Nightreign’s current challenges, including its Everdark Sovereigns, while awaiting confirmation on whether this competitive mode will make its way into the game.
