Sentence: Man gets death for killing step-mother
Accused her of creating misunderstandings between him and his wife.

An additional district and sessions judge on Monday awarded death sentence to a murder convict and fined him with Rs400,000. Judge Malik Tariq Zargham awarded death sentence to Salamat Ali, who had axed his step-mother. Two others accused of the murder, Tauseef Akram and Muhammad Bashir, were declared innocent and released. Shahdara police had arrested Ali in 2008 after he killed Najma Bibi accusing her of creating misunderstandings between him and his wife. He had named two men in the case saying that he had help him kill Najma. However, they were declared innocent on Monday after the police did not find any evidence against them. Ali was however proven guilty of the murder.
