A 28-year-old man, who had gone to drop his sister at her in-laws' home, allegedly died after being given poisoned tea by his brother-in-law.
The victim, Munir Ahmad, was a father of three and the only son of his parents.
According to his father, Niamat Ali, his daughter was married to Nasir Ahmad but had been living at her parents' home for the past month due to domestic disputes.
A few days ago, Nasir Ahmad came to their house, argued, and demanded to take the children back. Niamat Ali said he sent his son Munir to drop his sister and her children at her in-laws in Rade Bath.
On the return journey, Nasir Ahmad allegedly asked Munir to drop him at Halla, where he ran a tailoring shop. Upon reaching Halla, Munir complained of headache, and Nasir allegedly served him tea laced with poison. After drinking the tea, Munir left for Pattoki but became seriously ill near Shekham.
He phoned his parents, saying: "Nasir Ahmad has poisoned me. Come quickly to Pattoki Hospital."
According to the FIR, Munir repeated the same allegation before doctors at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Pattoki before being referred to Lahore. He died on the way.
Sarai Mughal police have registered a case on the father's complaint and begun an investigation.
