LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Monday issued a notice to Additional Sessions Judge Bakht Fakhar Behzad of Okara and sought his reply on a petition accusing him of changing his order after pronouncing it in the court.

The petition was filed by Ghulam Ahmad Chishti saying that a political rival implicated him in a murder case, but he secured a pre-arrest bail from the trial court on August 3. The court had issued notice to the state for August 24 on the bail application, he said. Meanwhile, he went to perform Umra and submitted an application to be exempted from personal appearance on August 24. He said that on August 24, Judge Behzad accepted his application and adjourned the case till September 10. He said later he found out that the judge had cancelled the order and had replaced it with a new one dismissing his application. The petitioner asked the court to set aside the impugned order and prosecute Judge Behzad.
